Rain Missed AGAIN.

It hasn't been long since we received a record breaking rain (I am still trying to dry out my house),  yet we are already dry again outside and really needing a good, soaking rain. Rain was predicted for today (Tuesday) and the citizens of Muskogee were really looking forward to some this time.

Although we all hoped for rain, deep down we also wondered if it would 'split' and miss us, as it has repeatedly been doing for so long now. The last few times it rained, just as the rain got close to Muskogee, it seemed to split, move over us and below us, clearing up completely right over and through us, then reformed after the system was just past Muskogee. This phenominal pattern has repeated itself over, and over, and over for several years now. Often times, as we watch the radar, the rain/storm, as it nears Muskogee, will draw back and dissolve, like a baby curling his toes back as Mama tries to put him in the bathtub, while the storm to the South and to the North of Muskogee continues on. It's really odd.

Today dawned bright and pretty, with only a few clouds. South of Muskogee the drone of the military planes from Davis Field could be heard overhead. For hours on end, the planes could be heard flying around and around the area, despite the growing number of clouds building. Maybe they were trying to get their maneuvers in before the storms moved in. But then maybe, it was something else.

The first round of rain moved in and sure enough, just as the long line of rain, stretching from the top to the bottom of Oklahoma reached close to Muskogee, the system split, sending clear skies through Muskogee, while North and South of Muskogee the rain continued on.

Strange clouds still loomed all through the evening, clouds that didn't look like ordinary storm clouds, really odd cloud formations. More storms moved in. Warnings and watches were put out all over the area. It looked like there was no way the system would miss us. But once again, as the storm system neared Muskogee, it split, rising above us and dropping below us, continuing along its way bringing a good soaking rain to all .... EXCEPT Muskogee.

Another wave of storms soon followed. The wind picked up and the lightning lit up the sky like it was daylight. Some areas of Oklahoma were receiving 70-mile an hour winds. A solid line of storms reached the full length of Oklahoma from top to bottom. One of the larger sections of storms looked like it was heading right for us, with no way of missing us. But .... you guessed it, as the system approached Muskogee, once again, the system split right over us, dropping only a few drops of rain and clearing off, while the system continued to bring storms and rain to all of Muskogee's neighbors. But one odd thing I noticed was, the drone of those military planes could be heard high in the sky just South of Muskogee during the time the system was splitting and clearing over us. Strange that they would be flying during stormy weather.

So once again, Muskogee is dry and dusty, while all of our neighbors to the North, South, East and West of us received a good soaking rain and thunder boomers. Makes ya wonder, doesn't it?

Stay tuned . . . . . . . . . . . .
